There were vines here 2000 years ago. The size and exposure of some land parcels has remained unchanged since records began. By 1860, in the reign of Napoleon III, Picpoul de Pinet was one of the fashionable wines. There’s a picture in the Louvre to prove it. There’s only one grape in Picpoul de Pinet, the Piquepoul. Its floral, citrus perfume and fresh lively mouth mean it’s just perfect with Bouzigue shellfish and oysters.

Since 1773, the Piquepoul seal, in the form of the community’s coat of arms, has been branded onto each cask. In 1992 : The Confrérie des Compagnons du Picpoul de Pinet was founded. A celebration : Only Picpoul de Piinet is served at the “Jazz at Mèze” festival every July. Most AOC Coteaux du Languedoc – Picpoul de Pinet wines come in a special bottle : the ” Neptune” featuring the Languedoc Cross.
