The hills of Libron are found on either side of the Libron—a long river of 44 km that runs from the foothills of the Cévennes to the Mediterranean Sea—encircling Béziers and its surrounding area in an open landscape marked by the presence of small hills and pine groves. For many decades, wine-growers knew how to encourager a new dynamic, developing a wine-making culture by showcasing the land and the climate of this area via the diversity of grape varieties linked to the best-adapted wine-making practices.
Based on their proximity to Béziers, we must remember to mention the term “Coteaux de Béziers” (Hills of Béziers) as a wine label to keep an eye on for the 2011 vintage!
The red wines present primary characteristics of fruity notes. The tannins are soft and fine, while the structure—sometimes light, sometimes more consistent—is always accompanied by sweet roundness without excessive astringency, especially as it finishes.
The white wines and rosés develop equally primary aromatic notes, with a dominant essence of fruit and flowers. The balance is assured by a satisfactory acidity and it is adapted to the concentration of the wine in order to present the freshness of the mouthfeel.
More than 20,000 hl of wines are identified in the Béziers territory, with the support of Val d’Orbieu and the dynamic, independent wine-growers. The wines are marketed either on a large scale of distribution or near local consumers.
